Simple ways to feel relaxed at home
After a long day at work and endlessly driving through Houston traffic it feels so good to finally make it home. Creating a serene living space is always a top priority for me. Not only does it look nice when you come home or have guests over but it reduces stress and anxiety as well. Here are a few simple ways to feel relaxed while at home.
Aromatherapy. Pick a scent that brings calmness to your space. I personally love shopping at Aesop for my hand soaps and lotions. They also make a room spray called Marrakech Intense thats smells heavenly. If you want to bring some greenery in to the shower you can stock up on some fresh eucalyptus. Tie some around your shower head for extra relaxation. (you can usually find some at a farmers market or Trader Joe’s) an alternative is to use eucalyptus essential oil. Place a few drops in the shower or bath. Enjoy the soothing effects it has on the sinuses.
Make your bed. This is something that I do every morning. On the days that I don’t do this, my bedroom feels chaotic and uninviting after a long day. It also feels great to wake up and instantly accomplish something as simple as making your bed first thing in the morning.
Have healthy beverages at hand. This not only saves you money throughout the week but its great to have healthy options to choose from at home. We always keep caffeinated beverages like coffee, green or black tea and matcha when we need a pick me up. We invested in a Berkey Water Filter System a few years ago so we remember to stay hydrated without purchasing plastic water bottles. At night I like chamomile teas to help me go to sleep and really relax at night.
Draw a bath. Lush has amazing products to choose from. I love their bath bombs of course but I also love their oil bars and bubble bars. I’ve also been loving CBD bath salts for sore muscles and deep relaxation. When I’m feeling stressed out I like the Dr. Singha Mustard bath powder. The smell is great on the sinuses and has a ton of benefits for the body as well.
Unplug. Before bed I try to read a bit to unwind and I often have my Himalayan salt lamp on instead of the harsh bedroom light. I drink chamomile tea and consume a few drops of my lavender CBD oil if I’m feeling restless. Try to move your phone away from your bed for the night. Get a good nights rest. You deserve it.
