Morning regimen

I usually prefer a basic morning routine regardless of the current state of my skin. Sometimes I’m feeling “extra” and I’ll throw in additional steps but for the most part- it’s fairly simple! I’m going to share my go to morning routine that I fall back on time and time again. It’s only a few steps and can fit anyone’s hectic lifestyle.

Step one: Cleanse. Choose a cleanser based on your skin type. I have combination, acne prone skin. During the hot and humid months I prefer a gel cleanser. I’ve been loving OleHenrickson’s oil control cleanser. (I use my Foreo cleansing tool with my face wash 1-2 x a week for a gentle exfoliation)

Step two: Tone. This step is so important because it removes any dirt and impurities while balancing out the ph levels of the skin. I love the Thayer’s Rose Petal toner. It’s very gentle on the skin and also tightens large pores. Try to find one without alcohol.

Step three: Treat. For daytime I prefer a vitamin C serum. I’ve been obsessed with the Summer Friday’s CC Me Serum. It brightens, improves skin texture and reduces dark spots from hyper pigmentation or acne scars.

Step four: Hydrate. This step is crucial! Every skin type could benefit from added moisture. My favorite one at the moment is the Tata Harper Clarifying Moisturizer. It’s for blemish prone skin and is perfect during the day under makeup. Its good to go for a lighter formula during the day and a richer formula for nighttime. My current night time moisturizer is the Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer.

Step five: Protect. Rain or shine, spf is so important! It reduces damage to the skin and also protects from pollution. I recently found one that I’m obsessed with. Its the Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion (SPF 30). It doesn’t break my skin out, does not leave a white cast on the skin and is very moisturizing. I can use this one in the mornings and skip my moisturizer when I put this on.
